Will Ormsby Cary
Actor // Filmmaker // Musician
Born in NYC, but raised in New Jersey, I returned to the city to attend NYU, studying acting at The New Studio On Broadway, Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and Stone Street Studios.
Most recently, I directed a production of Julius Caesar at the Scranton Shakespeare Festival. Scranton Shakes was one of the first festivals to hire me as an actor out of school so to return to explore directing was a truly special moment.
I followed Caesar up with acting in a workshop of a new adaptation of Three Sisters, directed by Emma Rosa Went and adapted by Else Went.
After Three Sisters, I brought an original series pilot I produced and star in, After life Hunters, to premiere at the NJ Web Fest. For my work in After Life Hunters I won the award for Best OnScreen chemistry alongside my co-star Lauren Karaman!
Before After Life Hunters, I produced and starred in Nice Knives, a short film about a down on his luck door to door knife salesman and the only man in New York to let him in. Nice Knives is the debut short of production company Little Tube Productions and had its premiere at the Big Apple Film Festival. Since playing at Big Apple it has went on to play at the Rehobeth Beach Independent Film Festival, the Yonkers Film Festival and Studio City International Film Festival in Hollywood.
Recently I was on stage at The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, I had the opportunity to perform understudy roles as Mercutio and the Friar in Romeo and Juliet (dir. Gaye Taylor Upchurch) and as Matt in Mr. Burns (dir. Davis McCallum). Prior stage work includes 3 seasons with the Scranton Shakespeare Festival, Farragut North with 5th Floor Theatre, and numerous plays with Shakespeare in the Square.
In addition to my work as an actor, I am a life longmusician (guitar and drums), a runner and an avid reader, most recently the Stormlight Archives series by Brandon Sanderson.
